Easy installation of Asterisk 1.6x on centos 5.x

This guide was very handy in installing the asterisk on a centos system.

Normally i would have spent at least a couple of hours in compiling an asterisk system from source.

But by using the yum installation details given at http://www.asterisk.org/downloads/yum the time was cut down to 15 mins :-)  including the mysql-addons.

keep up the good work asterisk.

command to install asterisk 1.8 using yum.

Installing Callweaver 1.2.1 on Centos 4.x & Centos 5.x

Lately i have been playing around with other voip/pabx servers. One of these happens to be Callweaver. This is a fork of Asterisk 1.2.x.

The main reason for evaluating callweaver was due to its good support for running under Virtual servers. Asterisk 1.2.x and above have issues when running under any Microsoft Virtual Servers or Virtual Machines. Callweaver had no issues in running under a Microsoft Virtual environment.
